Box 228, Melfa, VA 23410 Contact: Rose Rulon Phone: 757-789-1761 director.esliteracy@es.vccs.edu FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 31, 2021 Eastern Shore Literacy Council Receives Grant The Eastern Shore Literacy Council was recently awarded a three-thousand dollar ($3,000.00) grant from the Nora Roberts Foundation to bring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program to Eastern Shore children. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income. The Nora Roberts Foundation was created twenty years ago by the best-selling author Nora Roberts to support and encourage literacy, children, the arts and humanitarian efforts. The Kiwanis Club of Chincoteague brought The Dolly Parton Imagination Library program to Chincoteague children in 2019. With this grant to the Eastern Shore Literacy Council, the program can be extended to an estimated 2,000 age eligible children living off the Island.
