Development Coordinator 
Position Description
Reports to:   Executive Director
Hours:   Non-Exempt Part time, 15-20 hours per week;   Salary: $13.00-$15.00 per hour.
                             Flexible working hours but some evenings and weekends will be required
Function:   Plans, prepares, and coordinates all steps leading to successful fund-raising activities to   
                             support the organization’s general operation, including the Dolly Parton Imagination  
                             Library.  

Qualifications:   Well organized, efficient in networking and event management.  Able to plan initiatives 
  and manage multiple tasks. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to lift and    
  move items that are 10 lbs. and up.  Associate Degree or equivalent work experience.

Specific Responsibilities
Position Overview
The Eastern Shore Literacy Council raises funds through several initiatives.  The events include Spell-Rite, an adult spelling bee, Restaurant Week, in collaboration with restaurants on the Eastern Shore, and Flags for Heroes, honoring everyday heroes.  The ESLC also conducts an annual appeal.

Specific Responsibilities
Plan fundraising events 
Prepare a specific project plan for each event
Coordinate dates with Eastern Shore Literacy Council and venue
Serve as liaison with vendors, exhibitors and other stakeholders throughout the process
Manage an event committee


Event Implementation
Coordinate mailings for the events with the office staff
Secure sponsors and donors for each event.  This may include securing donation items for periodic auctions as part of these events.
Collaborate with office staff in creating publicity for each event. Publicity will include mailings, newspapers, radio announcements and social media posts.
Coordinate activities with the Executive Director during the event, as well as activities pre- and post-event.

Data Management
Maintain records regarding sponsorship and attendance at events.
Coordinate with Executive Director regarding funds received and recorded.

Ongoing Improvement.  Participate in staff-wide quality review of each event.

As a Member of the ESLC team:
Promotes the organization’s public relations efforts and attends community functions and meetings as requested by the Executive Director.
Supports and assists the Executive Director with writing grant proposals and developing event opportunities. 
Assists Executive Director, as needed, with day-to-day operations
